RAWFIE - (Road, Air and Water based Future Internet Experimentation)

YEAR: 2015 - 2019

Project details: EPSILON BULGARIA OOD together with twelve other public and private organisations from EU will perform the RAWFIE project. The project proposal is submitted under HORIZON 2020 topic H2020-ICT-2014-1: FIRE+ (Future Internet Research & Experimentation).

The European Commission evaluated the project proposal with score 13 from 15. After the impressive results from evaluation the grant agreement was signed on 18 November 2014. The duration of the project activities is 48 months.

Co-funding will be provided by EPSILON BULGARIA OOD, that will invest in UAV/ UAS and Copter application services. The results will be applied in selected sectors of the Bulgarian Economy as precision agricultural, civil protection, critical infrastructures safety and Grid & Fence patrolling.

The purpose of the RAWFIE initiative is to create a federation of different network test beds that will work together to make their resources available under a common framework. Specifically, it aims at delivering a unique, mixed experimentation environment across the space and technology dimensions. RAWFIE will integrate numerous test beds for experimenting in vehicular (road), aerial and maritime environments.

The RAWFIE consortium includes all the possible actors of this highly challenging experimentation domain, from technology creators to integrators and facility owners. The basic idea behind the RAWFIE effort is the automated, remote operation of a large number of robotic devices (UGVs, UAVs, USVs) for the purpose of assessing the performance of different technologies in the networking, sensing and mobile/autonomic application domains.
